Horses can't tell you when something's wrong. Often, a change in how much they're drinking is the earliest signal you'll get — and one of the easiest to miss. Reduced water intake is a well-known risk factor for colic, impaction, and heat stress: some of the most common, and most preventable, emergencies in equine care.
A chalkboard can't catch a drop overnight. A quick visual check at feeding time can miss it too.
